
The text begin with a general overview which concerned Mediterranean and its specific geographical, historical, social and economical characteristics. It follows the question of the main resources on which turn around all economy of region i.e. environment. Environmental defence and protection and in particular the sea protection through the instrument of sustainable development is the key factor for the future of area. Than are list problems of environmental vulnerability which is in close connection with an high anthropical pressure on coasts and concentrated sea traffic in the area. These sea traffic is responsible of sea pollution and the measures adopted since today by the international organisations such as IMO (International Maritime Organization), the REMPEC (Regional Marine Pollution Emergency response enter for the Mediterranean Sea) and EC (European Commission) are not enough by them selves to limit forbidden flow into the sea.
The creation and use of knowledge have become vital sources of boosting the global’s wealth. Besides, knowledge is the central element determining competitiveness and, as such, the countries of the world, in particular the developed ones, have engaged for generating it in a systematic way, developing sophisticated national systems and international interactions. The intensification of the globalization has led to an increased importance for the international cooperation and to the explicit exchange of knowledge and has created strong international scientific communities, without reducing the importance of the complex of local factors in adapting and using knowledge.
Given competitive pressures in a globalising market, internationalisation appears as one of the major challenges to small to medium-sized enterprises today. The fundamental problem that must be solved by all firms, and especially by small and medium-sized enterprises, is the decision what international activities and resources to deploy and develop in the attempt to survive and become more international. When an small and medium-sized enterprise, decides to engage in international activities, regardless of their nature, it has to follow some pattern of activities that (most likely) should be consistent or logical over time
